Rehoboth Terrace Holiday Cottage
About Us
This Page will be updated soon as the bulk of it was written in 2018, but we thought we ought to put a recent photo of ourselves with our new rescue, Roxy. Roxy is a husky-cross, adopted in February 2024 after we lost our 16 year old rescue, Rosie, at Christmas. Rosie was the long-suffering Face of Rehoboth Terrace for over 8 years (due to being far more photogenic than we are!) and features strongly on our website (see the update at the end for some photos of her in her more senior years).
Roxy is set to make her own individual mark on the business, already having grudgingly posed for 100s of photos for Facebook ads :-)
We first came to Rhosneigr for a week's holiday 2010. We love the sea and we don't drive, so we needed a quiet village by the sea with a train station that wasn't too far from Sheffield - and that's exactly what we found!
We came back every year and on our honeymoon in 2013 we saw this house on the market. Even though we hadn't expected to buy anything for years, we completely fell in love with it and bought what we consider to be our dream home. Even if we won the lottery, we wouldn't want to sell it!
We're not a luxury holiday let, and make no attempts to pretend we are. We've been making small improvements each year but have ensured from Day One that the house was very well-equipped so that we (and you) could enjoy it for what it was - a great home-from-home, if a little well-loved round the edges!
Fast-forward four years and after advertising successfully on Facebook for 18 months, we've been practically full-booked the whole time (round our own visits, of course - which are increasingly becoming work-dominant so we can keep things running smoothly in our absence!).
We've discovered running a popular holiday let is very rewarding, but also hard work - and that Beccie is better at it than Ian! We've never been interested in large salaries - we like the simple things in life (it doesn't get better than a day together, with Rosie, on Cymyran Beach with a picnic!). Beccie effectively having 2 near full-time jobs and no free time was never part of The Plan.
So in June 2017, Beccie gave up her job at the University to concentrate on the holiday-let business and family life - a decision that led to her being able to plan, and oversee, the Big 2018 Refurbishment :-)
We will always choose practical and affordable over luxury, and your dogs will always be more important to us than you.... ;-) But we hope that after a day tending to their needs, you will appreciate the little human touches of sumptuous bedroom carpets; sexy, sparkly, rainhead shower with body-jets; relaxing bath (no more "can I just use the loo?" interruptions!); free handwash and hand lotion; and even hair & body gel and conditioner - I know, we spoil you!
As is probably very obvious, we're dog-lovers! We have always wanted this to be a place you can bring your dog without worrying too much about what they'll do! We are constantly adding to the Dog Section so you know exactly where you can take your dog, when, and what hazards there could be. We also love to see photos of your dogs enjoying their holiday :-)
We enjoyed many breaks here, long and short, with our collie-cross, Gypsy, until she sadly died in July 2015. Having reactivity issues, she was far happier here where there were fewer triggers for her... and so were we!
Within a month of losing Gyps, we adopted a dog called Mitzi from Helping Yorkshire Poundies. A very sweet, overweight, 8 year old boxer/lab who had had to leave the only home she had ever known due to allergy problems.
We re-named her Rosie, and so began her new life... and ours! She has lost nearly 6kg with us! Before we agreed to adopt her, we were worried she wouldn't be able to keep up with us - now we struggle to keep up with her!! She isn't just slimmer and fitter. She has a real enthusiasm for life and boundless energy.
She absolutely LOVES it here - we've never seen a dog having so much fun on the beach, in the dunes, and in the sea! We think we've made as big a difference to her life as she has to ours :-)
She is an absolute joy and has helped fill the massive hole Gypsy left in our lives. We feel completely indebted to Helping Yorkshire Poundies for suggesting her to us - we were looking for a slightly smaller, younger, fitter dog, and would have overlooked her!
When we move here, we hope to be able to foster dogs and make a real difference, but until then, we use our holiday let to support Helping Yorkshire Poundies, donating with every booking, and putting on special offers where we can.
We hope you fall in love with Llanfaelog and Rhosneigr, just as we have, and have many happy holidays here. How long this will be a holiday let remains to be seen as we are itching to move here permanently!

A quick update for August 2024
As was inevitable, just as Gyps before her, Rosie also left a huge hole in our lives and hearts. She died on Anglesey, and although we were devastated, we're so glad she made it back one last time. She really thrived there and I'm sure our visits kept her going that bit longer. Never in our wildest dreams did we think she'd reach 16.
Just as inevitably, Roxy has bulldozed her way into our hearts (and physical space - she's big!) and has helped fill the massive hole Rosie left. Life without a dog by your side is no life at all. Roxy is also 8, and was also a bit overweight! We have got her from a chunky 37kg to 32kg!). Reading back what I wrote in 2018 about Rosie loving Anglesey and living life to the full - well, that is how Roxy has been too! We hope we won't be writing anything but happy updates about her for some time to come and she will have her own page soon.
Here are a few of Rosie's more recent photos, when she was frosty-faced, VERY sure of her important status in life, and with the help of a buggy and strong, determined, humans, still got to enjoy everything Rhosneigr had to offer in the twilight of her life! We miss her very very much.
