Dog Policy

We don't have a load of strict rules - we hope you are a responsible dog owner and know your own dog(s) better than we do - but here are our preferences. On a mobile, scroll to the bottom for the doggie facilities list.

  • We don't particularly want to set a limit on how many dogs you can bring - if you live in a 2-up, 2-down terrace with 10 Newfies, you will find our house palatial, even if we feel a bit hesitant about the logistics! You know how much space you need, so if you think our house may not be suitable, ask us what we think - we will be honest! Nowadays we usually say 8 dogs, but it isn't a hard limit (we've had 10 a few times) but it can depend on the kind of booking we have after you.

  • We prefer dogs to sleep downstairs, but if your dog always sleeps in your bedroom, we can see this would be a problem. Our main concern is dog hair on bedding and the fact that not all our guests will be dog owners (and indeed, even dog owners don't necessarily want to sleep with other people's dog hair!). If your dogs sleep in the bedroom with you, please bring your own bedding (sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover) - you can let us know on the booking form.

  • Likewise, we prefer dogs not to be on the sofas, but again, bring your own throws, and who's to know ;-) We have a lot of lovely snuggly throws.... sorry, but these are for humans!

  • We are happy for you to leave your dog unattended if you are sure they will be OK alone in a strange house. We would prefer them to be confined to the kitchen as we have a tall stair gate there and you wouldn't need to shut a door on them. Or crated if they are used to crates.

  • We have had a large dog crate for a couple of years now and it has proved popular enough for us to decide to keep it, despite it being so big and heavy! If you would like to use it, please let us know when you book so we can make sure we still have it when you come!

  • Regrettably, our house isn't suitable for puppies. We wish it were, but we have to be practical. If your dog is under 9 months old, or recently rescued, please message us first so we can discuss our suitability.

  • Our garden is fully enclosed and secure for most dogs, but you know, and are responsible for, your own. Check the perimeter when you arrive to satisfy yourself that your dog won't find a way out, and don't leave your dog unattended in the garden unless you are 100% sure it is safe. We have a lot of info about the garden linked at the top of this page - you're welcome to message us if you have further questions.

  • Giving the doggie rooms a quick hoover/sweep before you leave is greatly appreciated. It's a big house for our housekeepers to turn round in time for the next guests - and it isn't the only one they will be doing. Changeover days in Rhosneigr and Llanfaelog are very busy! Very hairy changeovers greatly impact the time taken, and not just for us, but the next properties our team will be going on to. We don't charge for dogs, and our cleaning agency haven't added an extra charge, despite the number of dogs we allow, so please be respectful and help us to keep it that way.
