Rehoboth Terrace Holiday Cottage
Garden & outdoors
The garden is very private and looks out onto nothing but rolling fields. A perfect place to sit and relax.

There's plenty of wildlife to watch from your sun lounger, bench or hanging chair! Harry the heron is a frequent visitor, and Billy the buzzard can be seen practically every day, soaring above the fields. One of his favourite perches is the post in the middle of the reeds.
Not to mention, of course, the daily airshow - when the planes are taking off in the direction of Valley, they come in to land quite low over the field and our garden.

As we're an end terrace, the garden wraps round and gets the sun pretty much all day.
The other point to note is that the front of the house is no longer secure due to our new parking space. The side gate that leads to the parking area has "Please shut the gate" signs, 1 latch and 2 bolts!
The top bolt is designed to be able to be opened from the front by adult humans if you know it is there - this also means that small kids wont be able to open the gate from either side if you don't want them to. The big middle bolt can only be accessed from the garden side.
The gate can be shaken loose from the latch if it's windy (heads-up..... its nearly always windy!!) so the new little bolt is an extra level of security for times we might need access for the gas men or gardener, or if you want to be able to bring dogs round the back after walks without having to go through the house.
Enclosed or Secure? Will it be safe for my dogs?

Only you can answer that, as you know your dogs. We have deliberately put lots of photos of the garden on here to help you decide, and we're happy to answer any questions. We very rarely get bookings without dogs, and everyone up to now has been happy. We do provide long leads and a stake that can also be used to secure your dog if you're worried and want to relax completely.

We had a wire fence (like a farmer's field sheep fence) installed on top of the wall in Nov 2016. In May 2022, we added a top wire to make it a bit higher. You won't see this in all the photos and videos yet as it is quite new, but we've included a photo of the new set-up with dimensions. This has hopefully given us the best of both worlds - we haven't lost the view or open aspect, but most dogs can't leap over it! The wall is about 2ft, with the wire fence now taking it up to a height of 5ft 1 inch.

At a low level, all the boundaries are wall, so no worries about small dogs squeezing through gaps in bushes/hedges. The gaps between the horizontal wires of the stock fence are smaller at the bottom, and get gradually bigger as you get to the top (around 3 inch to 6 inch). The boundary to the road is walled and fenced (over 6ft high).
We had the greenhouse and some bushes removed and relocated the corner arbor. This marks the end of the guest space. The yard beneath the kitchen window houses our private sheds and the LPG tanks and the 6ft tall boundary with our neighbour. The ground is lower than the rest of the garden (so the fence reaches 6ft above the ground). We've gated this area because you wouldn't easily be able to see your dogs if they went into it and it provides an extra barrier between our garden and next door.
We can't guarantee that there will be no livestock in the field (it belongs to a local farmer). Directly over the low wall is a grassy ledge about 1 - 2 ft wide. Then there is the farmer's stock fence, and quite a drop down to the field.

To be honest, this is what we expect your dog to be doing after lovely long walks and running on the beach, and swimming in the river and sea..... but again, you know your dog :-)
