Rosie Recommends!

It's been suggested that I have an online-spending habit! This is untrue..... but there are some great products out there for us to enjoy and to make our humans' lives easier while they cater to our every need. I feel I would be doing an incomplete job as The Face of Rehoboth Terrace if I didn't tell you about some of my favourite things :-)

The menu above will jump down to my reviews. I've included a link to the manufacturer's home page - but as the canny online-shopper knows, you may find better prices if you look around.

I also accept no responsibility for these products being right for you - I just think they're fab :-) However, if you like the look of my Dogrobe, I've just won an amazing deal for us all - see below for info!

[being "The Face of Rehoboth Terrace" is an honour, of course, but the reality is that I didn't have much competition.... have you SEEN my humans?? :-o]

Dicky Bags
Dicky Bags
dicky-bag-standard.jpg

We won't dwell too much on this one, but we've all felt a bit of emabarrassment when we try to find our humans another human friend, get them to come over by being extra cute.... and suddenly realise our own human is standing awkwardly, holding a whiffy bag of our poop :-( It's not cool. Neither is leaving our poop on the ground. Or bagging it but leaving it hanging on trees, throwing it over walls or leaving it on the path. Apart from the environmental issues, some horses died recently because they ate the bags :-(

Solution?? A Dicky Bag. They're a bit pricey, but your human can machine-wash it, and will use it several times a day for your life-span. That makes it a bargain in my eyes. My humans never take me out without one, and we have one in the house for your human to use when you stay.

We also have a treat bag from the same company - one of those essential training tools. It's surprisingly easy to train a human to give you treats ;-)

There is also something called a PoopPot which is a similar idea. We haven't tried those, but we have a friend who has. More suitable for smaller dogs.

Long Paws Pet Water Bottle
Water Bottle

This has been a really good buy! I don't mind admitting that I've drunk more sea water than is healthy - particularly when I first started coming here. Don't do it! It makes you very poorly - not even a Dicky Bag will save your humans, believe me :-(

So we got one of these. I'm usually too excited at the beginning of the walk to drink, but before they let me off the lead, they always make sure I have a little drink, and I now know to come back to them when I get thirsty.

We bought a 250ml bottle, but they come in bigger sizes too. The thought being that it's small enough to carry on every walk, and on longer walks, my humans always have lots of water in their rucksacks for themselves, and can re-fill it. They come with a clip to clip onto your human's belt or rucksack... my humans clip it to the shoulder strap that holds my Dicky Bag, my treat bag, and Nerf (more on him later!).

It has a patented "lick n flow" design. Which basically means you lick the big ball in the spout to make the water come out. Non-spill..... I've got to be honest, I still spill a lot. I'm a messy drinker! Also, although we do use it like that sometimes, my humans frequently unscrew round the middle and pour the water into the lid so I can have a more satisfying gulp :-)

However we use it, it has proved its worth - there have been many short walks this summer where my humans might not have thought to take water with us, but I've really needed it. It's been a hot one this year, hasn't it?

Nerf & Wobbly Bob

These are my favourite toys for the beach!

Nerf comes from B&M Bargains and costs £3.99. He bounces, he can be thrown a long way, he is satisfying to grab and flex your jaw on.... but best of all..... HE FLOATS!!! Bargain, or what? My favourite beach game is Nerf-Rescue, where my humans chuck him in the sea and I rescue him. I'm very good at it - never lost him yet :-)

We have a Nerf in the house for you - if you lose him, or are too rough with him, there's a B&M Bargains at the Holyhead Retail Park. Or my humans can deduct the cost from your deposit. I'd be quite upset if he wasn't there next time I visit :-(

Wobbly Bob comes from Pets at Home (also in the Retail Park) and is a similar price. He also floats. He can't be thrown quite so far - which is good if your humans can be a bit over enthusiastic! When he hits hard ground, you never know which way he will bounce, and he's nice and soft in your mouth.

Nerf is my favourite, but my humans frequently burst into hysterical laughter as I run back with Wobbly Bob wobbling in my mouth. I don't get it really....

Outward Hound Life Jacket
Life Jacket

My humans bought me this originally so we could go on a boat trip - but they still haven't taken me :-(

However, I have worn this a lot this summer. At first, it helped me feel more confident in the sea and river. It keeps me up higher in the water and I don't have to work as hard. It has a handy bit under the chin that helps to keep your head above water if you get tired.

As I grew more confident, I didn't really need it on calm days, but then the sea got warm enough for my humans to want to swim with me. With the life jacket, I can stay in deep water for quite a long time, playing "Who's-going-to-get-Nerf?". This is a variation on Nerf-Rescue, where they throw Nerf and we all race (swim) to catch him. In case you're wondering - I usually win! Whenever they win, it's because they cheated and can still touch the bottom, or one throws it near the other. I am by far the best swimmer :-)

I've also been made to play Human-Rescue, where one of my humans grabs a handle on my jacket and lets me tow them to shore..... to be honest, I prefer Nerf-Rescue.... he's a lot lighter!

Dogrobe & Equafleece
dogrobe

I have two dogrobes and I leave them at the house so you can use them (if they fit!). I have a large and a medium. They're very comfy and dry you off very quickly. On cooler days, they are nice to snuggle into after a long game of Nerf-Rescue while your humans sit on the sand and eat in front of you.... :-(

I have negotiated an amazing deal with Dogrobes - buy one using the code reho17 and you will receive a 10% discount. For every 10 uses of the code, I get to choose a new Dogrobe free for you to use when you come and stay. As we accept unlimited dogs, 2 isn't really enough!

I also have an orange equafleece tankie - only one, so it doesn't stay in Anglesey. It keeps me warm on the beach when it's cold and I've got very wet, and my humans decide it's a great time to sit still and eat in front of me.... :-(

I've also just bought an equafleece polo neck jumper for the winter, when it's very cold, and I've still been playing Nerf-Rescue, got very wet in the freezing sea, and my humans decide NOW is the time to stop moving, sit down and eat in front of me... :-(

You'll see there's a theme here... I have thick fur, so only really feel the cold when I'm wet and not moving. My humans walk a lot, but they also like to sit and rest and enjoy views... and eat and drink cups of hot tea from their flask... this isn't so good for me, but it keeps them happy and my fleeces keep me warm :-)

The fleeces are also great at drying you off quickly at home, or in the car, and can either stop you getting so muddy on a walk, or stop you getting the house/car muddy afterwards!

They are also 100% rainproof and breathable. So a very good buy :-)
